These are the beauties that keep me up at night.  They call out to me to be made, and I must obey.  The
difficult part is figuring out the pattern.  I am still learning the art of the gussett, and making a creature that
can bear it's own weight is a particular challenge.  But finished, they bring me the most delight and pride,
and I hope they will delight you as well.

This is little Lady Luck, something I
could use an extra helping of recently.
I used copper wire for armature for her
wings, from the hardware store,
something new for me.  Her belly and
underwings are also red satin.
This seahorse was my very first adventure in beaded dolls,
ever.  I beaded two pieces of felt, and then actually sewed the
two pieces together on my sewing machine.  What an
adventure that was!  I just kept beading and beading and
beading.  Everyone who picks it up wants to shake it like a
rattle.  Must be all that extra beading.
This is a Leafy Green Sea Dragon, an actual
creature, but my husband just calls it a sea
creature.  They are related to the sea horse, and
are absolutely magnificent to see if you ever get
the chance.  They live in coral reefs and are
highly endangered.
This creature was by far the most technically
difficult because of all the nooks and crannies that
had to be completely beaded through and
around.  It was the only piece that I entered into
Beads and Beyond that wasn't accepted.  Twila
and the seahorse were.  Go figure.
This is Ruby, just a fun lovin' fish.  She has big red lips, and a
sequined body.  She's a pretty big gal, about 8 inches from lips
to tail.
This little gal we call Starfish.  She's all
sequins, but petite, only about three
inches lips to tail.
This sweetie was the challenge both in gussett and in bearing her own weight.  I've named her
Marietta, my sweet hippo.  She has a big fleshy mouth, and two big bottom teeth.  I think the only
thing missing might be the little birds that sit upon a hippos back in the rivers of the Nile.  I've
considered removing the bottoms of her feet and placing rods up her legs, but can't quite bring
myself to be so surgical, so I just encourage her by placing her next to sturdy objects to lean next to.
